The AFSCN is a network of two communications and operational control centers and multiple antennas located at nine sites worldwide. These ground stations are the communications link between the National Command Authorities and U.S. forces worldwide. Honeywell, which earlier this year selected L-3's Communication Systems-West division as part of the Honeywell Technology Solutions team on the SCNC, competitively selected L-3 Telemetry-West to provide the multi-kilowatt HPAs in both L- and S-Band frequencies for dramatically improved satellite command capabilities.

The network's IDL capabilities are intended to enable WIC to improve and expand its staff training program to remote locations, thus reducing travel costs and eliminating time out of the office.
Inmarsat Global Area Network (GAN) terminals will form the technological backbone of communications facilities to banks and financial institutions across the Philippine archipelago. Xantic, an Inmarsat service provider, will contribute satellite airtime and business support to Faslink Communications' financial transaction solutions in The Philippines. The Inmarsat GAN service will facilitate online data and transfers to over 2,800 banks spread across the provinces of The Philippines. The new service based on Global Area Network (GAN) terminals with Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS) capabilities allows for continuous, always-on connection and because it is packet switched, the financial institutions will only pay for the data packets sent, rather than for the time online.
